Babies and Toddlers - Temperatures suitable for BabiesEnsure that your baby is warm both during the day and night – but not overly warm. The general rule is that they need to be kept at a slightly warmer temperature than adults. Hands and feet may feel a little cold – and this is normal. If you have doubts about the warmth of your baby, feel the stomach area for an indication of his/her body heat. Try and make the baby’s room as a welcoming place for the baby. It need not cost a fortune to provide a nice environment. Pretty pictures and curtains, mobiles and subdued lighting, and maybe some pleasant background sounds are the main ingredients for keeping the baby happy in his/her own bedroom. The recommended temperature of a baby’s room is around 18 degrees C - and it is generally recommended that young babies sleep on their backs. For peace of mind to parents, it is highly recommended to have a baby monitor placed in the baby’s bedroom.
