Child Modelling

For any parents considering an early career for their offspring, and they truly believe that their child is a suitable candidate for child modelling, there are main initial and important thoughts for consideration:

a) Would I, as the parent, have the time available to devote to my son or daughter’s child modelling career? (or alternatively, could there be some other person with available time and commitment)?

b) Am I convinced that I (or another person) would continually have the absolute ongoing time and commitment, which would be required, if my son/daughter became a child model?

c) Would my offspring actually enjoy child modelling?

d) Does my child have enough confidence to be interviewed by a Child Modelling Agency?

e) Would my child have the ability and confidence to perform on the catwalk and/or in front of a professional photographer?

f) Would my child’s education be affected if he/she was also involved in child modelling?

g) Would any other members of the family suffer in any way – if just one of several children was to become a child model?

h) Would I be able to interact well with others on my child’s modelling assignments?

If you are now certain that it is worth pursuing a child modelling career for your young one, the general route to go down – is to search for names, addresses and phone numbers of Child Modelling Agencies. Many of these Agencies you may dismiss as inappropriate for your particular child.

Many of these Agencies will be many miles away from the homestead. This is not necessarily a problem – as several Agencies cover wide areas where requests are made for child models. (Although it is customary to expect to have to travel to the Child Modelling Agency for, at least, the first interview with your offspring).

There are numerous websites purely devoted to Childrens Modelling Agencies. Many of these companies will request that you email them initially.

But whether you are intending to post an actual letter, or send an email, it is always advisable to get thoughts together first. List all your child’s redeeming features, and abilities, which you consider could endear your child to Child Modelling Agencies. These may include such things as the offspring attending drama classes, gym classes and dancing classes.

You will need to have several professional photographs, taken of your child, in advance of making any applications to these special agencies.

If your child becomes a consideration by a Child Modelling Agency, obviously the amounts to be paid for your child’s appearances will need to be discussed, plus anything else you feel you need to know, before “signing on the dotted line” on behalf of your offspring.

Child models, and baby models, are always in great demand for such things as magazine advertisements, clothing catalogues, television advertisements and childrens fashion shows.

Very often, a child’s attractiveness only plays a small part in acceptance by agents. A pleasing smile, tight curly hair, large eyes, or even something slightly quirky about a child's appearance, can often be hugely appealing to a Child Modelling Agent. Mannerisms, and an individual uniqueness, is always a pat of the considerations taken into account. Child models come in all shapes and sizes of children. Most Child Modelling Agencies like to have children on their books - to cover all the wide range of different facial features, and skin colours, which our wonderful planet has to offer.

Being considered to be photogenic is a must. Being able to perform well, and naturally, for the most part, in front of cameras, is also valued highly by Acting Agencies. (The fewer the 'takes', the less the expense).
