Childrens Activities
Childrens activities refers to anything, and everything, which is needed to occupy a child during his/her waking hours. Some kiddies activities will likely last for days, or even weeks, - especially with regards to their times spent away from home on their childrens holidays.
But mainly, it refers to childrens activities – when the child is not away from the homestead. It can be a real problem for parents – endeavouring to think up new ideas to occupy their son/daughter for the occasional hour, or part of a day.
Childrens arts and crafts can often play an important role, in occupying time, in a child’s day at home, – and please read the last paragraph on this page for some suggestions of childrens arts and crafts.
Nowadays, the more obvious ways that older children will entertain themselves (when they are not in school attendance or doing homework) is listening to CDs, or watching the television, a video or DVD, or reading books, playing computer games, or emailing their friends.
Like the older ones, younger children may also get pleasure from listening to CDs, or watching the television, a video or DVD, or playing on the computer. They are also likely to enjoy playing with toys or dolls. Other ways of amusing young children, for short spells of time, include visits to a childrens playground, feeding ducks in a nearby pond, visits to friends with children of their own age, going shopping (or even just a short walk to nowhere in particular) and reading stories and nursery rhymes to the child.

There are numerous arts and crafts ways to entertain a child at home – and there are many good books covering the wide ranges of areas in childrens arts and crafts.
Some childrens arts and crafts books are full of great ideas for very young children. These often include such art projects as finger painting, making a Mr Potato head, and making leaf patterns on paper from actual leaves. Art books designed with older children in mind may include guidance on clay modelling, candle making, papier mache sculpturing, embroidery work, knitting and crochet work, candle making, jewellery making, scrapbook making, glass etching, and teddy bear making. There are also thousands of books relating to other very specific topics. These include such varied subjects as photography, learning the art of fly making (fishing), making Christmas decorations and redesigning things from recycled materials.
This “Childrens Activities including Childrens Arts and Crafts” page is mainly a listing of some of the many other ways to occupy a child. Hopefully, it will provide a little inspiration - to any parents who may be running out of ideas.
More in-depth information, on many childrens activities, can be found on other pages of this website.
