Childrens Minor Accidents and Getting Dirty

Make every endeavour NOT to get angry if children have minor accidents in respect of their clothing e.g. spilling a drink down a designer tee-shirt, tearing a new pair of jeans when playing with friends, - or just generally getting dirty because they weren’t thinking about keeping themselves clean when they were having so much fun. Realise that they have not done anything naughty or deliberately. They did not mean to do this - and the situation should be treated in as light a manner as possible. If there is a real need for the child to remain clean and tidy, it is best to try and make the child understand that they will be unable, at that particular time, to do much else besides watching television or occupying themself in another suitable pasttime, - as they still need to appear presentable at a later time in the day.

Do everything possible, in order to avoid accidents, by providing plug hole covers, safety latches on kitchen cupboard doors, safety gates on the staircase, and anything else you can think of to keep your baby or children out of harm's way. Mop up spillages immediately, especially on floors with no carpets, in order to avoid an accident. Keep a small domestic fire extinguisher in the kitchen.

Prevention is key to keeping minor accidents and incidents to a minimum.
