Teenage Bedroom Furniture

Although teenage bedroom furniture, obviously, refers to wardrobes and other items of furniture in your teenagers own special room, – some items, especially desks or computer tables, may be preferred to be placed in other areas within the family home.

Once a teenager has begun to consider that his/her bedroom is no longer appropriate in its appearance, - now is the time that parents should seriously consider having a revamp of his/her bedroom. Encourage your son/daughter to be involved in the planning of the ‘new room’. Consider all the spaces which are presently available. Think about the pieces of furniture which may no longer be suitable for the age group – and then consider all these extra spaces which will be also be available in the room. If it is decided that some pieces of furniture will need to remain within the room, - ensure that any future items are able to blend well with the existing furniture. (Painting all the wardrobes and dressers in one colour is one way of overcoming this problem).

If a new bed becomes a consideration, - this can often be a good starting point for refurbishing a bedroom. Traditional beds, often constructed in wood, iron, and brass, are still very popular. But if your son/daughter wishes for something more unusual, there are other great ranges of beds which can be favoured. Water beds are not only great fun. It is generally agreed that they are also very relaxing and comfortable. Or he/she may yearn for a four-poster bed. Four-poster beds come in many ranges from something fairly basic and simple – to elaborate, carved antique, or high quality reproduction beds. (Always ensure that floors are strong enough to accommodate any extra weight). If the size of room permits, your teenage son/daughter may prefer to discard his/her regular-sized bed - and have it replaced with a king-size bed. As well as the extra-wide beds available, there are also extra-long ones. These are particularly beneficial if your teenager is particularly tall. If space is very limited in your teenagers room, it is often a great advantage to have a drop-down bed. A built-in bed results in space-saving – and often results in making a room warmer. This is due to all the combined pieces of furniture being placed in front of a wall. Apart from the bed, - such as items as wardrobes, drawers, bookshelves, television table and a computer table are often a part of the furniture combination.

Having decided upon the type of best sleeping arrangement, - unless it has been agreed to have built-in furniture including the bed, decisions now need to be made regarding the remainder of the furniture for the room. Usually, it is preferable to have most of the furniture matching. For example, if it is considered that a new wardrobe, dressing table and chest of drawers is required, - your son/daughter could make the decision to have all these new pieces of furniture in Norwegian wood or antique pine.

Instead of indivual wardrobes, teenagers very often prefer to have a section of the room just dedicated to wardrobe space. These usually have sliding doors – and if the robes are mirror fronted, - this will give the illusion of a much larger bedroom.

If it is considered that the task of restyling the teenagers bedroom is too daunting, - bring in the experts if the family budget permits this. Teenage bedroom designers can take the complete stress, not to mention the upheaval, out of the whole process. Many families consider that bedroom design is best left to the specialists.

A revamped teenage bedroom, which in no way reflects the previous appearance of a children’s room, - often helps to lift the spirits of a teenager. Often, it also provides a better ambience for the likes of homework and studying – and, of course, relaxation.
