With regards to teenage daywear, this expression usually refers, especially, to such things as teenagers fashion jeans, teenage tops and tee-shirts and teenage shirts. And many a self-respecting teenager would not consider wearing jeans, tops and shirt – unless it was “shouting”: designer label.

Although almost all shops and stores have separate sections and departments for male wear and female wear, - many clothes nowadays, especially teenage clothes, are all very similar for both sexes.

Fulfilling the ultimate dreams, for a great number of offspring in this teenage age group category, is the luxury of owning the more expensive fashion clothing wear, - even if only for special occasions. Many teenage boys and girls crave to be the owner of a designer suit, or a separate fashion jacket and fashion trousers/pants – or in the case of the female teenager, - a fashion skirt or a teenage evening dress (most popular and desirable still probably "the little black dress"). Some male teenage offspring favour having a selection of boys sarongs hanging in their wardrobe. Loose fitting long garments are also sometimes worn by teenage boys for religious purposes. And although Scottish kilts are not a fashion clothing as such, - they are still certainly worn by proud Scots, or persons with Scottish ancestry (especially at weddings and other special occasions). So it all goes to show that there is really very little divide between male and female clothing.
