Camping Holidays

If you are making plans for family camping holidays, - do remember to include all the camping equipment on your “Don’t Forget List” - which you are likely to be requiring on your forthcoming family camping holiday. Camping equipment covers quite a wide range of items such as camping kettles, camping stoves, a portable camping toilet, hiking boots and suitable outdoor clothing. You just need to ensure that you have accounted for every essential item of camping equipment - which your family is likely to need on the camping vacation.

If you are lacking in some of the essential “ingredients” of camping, - second hand tents, and second hand trailer tents, - as well as many nearly new items of camping equipment, can often be picked up at great bargain prices.

Numerous seasoned family campers own a trailer tent – and trailer tents are also becoming increasingly popular by newcomers to the idea of camping. Towing a trailer tent, on the back of a family vehicle, is definitely one of the best, and quickest, ways for a family to view several different and wonderful areas on their family vacation. By taking along tent living accommodation, all that’s necessary - is to keep erecting the tent at the next stop on the travels.

Family camping holidays certainly don’t have to be like family camping holidays of yesteryear.

Nowadays, there are many international campsites which offer tent hire par excellence – with many of these luxury tents being almost on the same level of luxury as the accommodation in many fine hotels. Tents can be hired which contain up to three (or even more) bedrooms. These luxury tents are well spaced apart – in order for families to have a little privacy from other holiday makers. Many tents have sides which roll up – in order to give a feeling of openness during the day time hours – and providing good opportunities to converse with others abiding on the same campsite. The tents come fully furnished and equipped with all the necessities such as a refrigerator and cooker. Many contain electric lighting. It is almost guaranteed that these special campsites have excellent toilet and shower facilities – and you will often find a launderette and shops within the compound. Every conceivable high standard is set at these family campsites. Some of the sites are part of a chain of campsites – so you will often be viewing the same campsite name in several different regions throughout the world.

But family camping holidays certainly do not need to be very exclusive – and many parents actually prefer to go “back to basics” entirely when it comes to camping with their children. They believe it provides more camping authenticity if they are all squeezed up together, lying in sleeping bags at night - in a tent which is little more than a canvas cover – separating themselves from the stars. And many families love closeness of tents – as they feel this is a better way to make new friends and fond acquaintances. Most campsites provide at least basic toilet and shower facilities – and this is all that seems to matter to lovers of basic camping. On these types of family camping holidays, it is more customary for campers to hire a spot on a campsite – and pitch their own tent.

Family camping holidays in superb tent accommodations - bear little resemblance to very basic types of family camping holidays – ‘though both sorts of holidays have one very important thing in common: generally, they both provide the same wonderful experiences which would be lacking from most other forms of family holidays. For obvious reasons, campsites are situated amongst fields. Therefore, this usually means that the campsites are surrounded by open countryside, often with unspoilt landscapes, – presenting excellent opportunities for families to appreciate the Great Outdoors – by attempting to keep in tune with nature. Regular family campers often take long walks and hikes together – exploring all the countryside, and wildlife, as they go. For many families, there is nothing nicer than feeling a part of the country scene. Walking, hiking, chatting to the locals and other like-minded holidaymakers, discovering a local hostelry - and having the chance to sample local delicacies in a restaurant “in the middle of nowhere”, is what family camping holidays are often all about.

To quote the old saying, “don’t knock it till you’ve tried it” – and some might say that it’s absolutely definitely worth trying.
