Holidays catering for Babies
Self-catering holidays are often the perfect choice to make for a family with babies. Going away with a baby can disrupt his/her usual routine. Everything is suddenly different in their baby world – including the sights, sounds and smells around them. So it can be difficult for a family – particularly if they are regularly needing to ensure that the baby is not disturbing other guests, – and most especially, this applies to during the night. These types of vacations also provide greater flexibility for the family.
If the money angle is not a problem, you may like to consider the more upmarket self catering holidays. There are some wonderful holiday villas around the world - which may be more than suitable for your young offspring. And many people nowadays 'sing the praises' of owning a time share holiday home for certain weeks of the year.
Apart from holiday villa rental, there are of course all the great self catering holiday cottages, caravans and apartments. Very often, people do not always have the opportunity to discover all the places of interest - which are in a locality not far from their home. Therefore, you might find the absolutely perfect self catering holiday for your family – which is near a beach, in open countryside not far from tourist attractions, or a nearby village that is not a “million miles” from your homestead. These local family holidays also help to keep down the travelling costs – and usually enable parents to attend to their baby more readily on the journey – as the little one’s needs arise.
It is essential not to overlook certain crucial items which you feel you will require for the baby on holiday. Always make enquiries if there are such facilities as a highchair, baby buggy or pushchair and a cot.
Try and discover in advance what the area has to offer which will be suitable for the baby’s enjoyment - such as a zoo, a duck pond, a baby paddling pool or a beach.
Ensure that the accommodation you have in mind is “baby friendly”. Try to avoid a holiday home which is likely to involve many steps or high staircases. With regards to older buildings, try and ensure beforehand that they have been kept in good safety order (especially with regards to structure and electrical wiring and gas appliances). Older buildings have great appeal – but they can often be more cluttered in the rooms than the newer properties.
Family holiday camps are always very popular for families with babies and young children. Most parents considering a holiday camp - need to ascertain if there is a supervised creche and night patrol for their baby. This gives parents more peace of mind regarding their baby - and provides more availability of precious time - to devote to any children in attendance on the family holiday.
Always remember to put your baby and children as a top priority when considering any family holiday. If you usually have a child minder, or Nanny, taking care of your baby, - you may even wish to consider paying for him/her to go along on your family holiday vacation – thus giving you, as the parents, much more freedom whilst you are away from home.
