Family holidays rate highly on the list of priorities in millions of households throughout the world. The majority of these family away-breaks need to be taken when the schools are in recess – in order to avoid disrupting the educational programmes of the younger members of the family. Firstly, have a family discussion regarding the types of holiday which are agreeable to all concerned.

Quite often, a family vacation is the only time in the year when the family are all together for any great length of time. This can prove to be a tremendous bonding session between parents and their offspring. Unfortunately, it sometimes has the reverse effect - resulting in endless days of squabbling and bad attitudes.

Previous to departure, ask someone to keep a check on your home for the holiday period – if you feel that this will give you peace of mind. Remember to cancel out services such as a newspaper delivery.
